See more: This roundtable discussion: “Rethinking Transnational and Intersectional Feminism: The Combahee River Collective Statement and the Global Refugee Crisis,” will take place at the National Women’s Studies Association’s 40th Conference on Friday, November 17th, (8:00-9:15, bright and early!). This roundtable is one of two sponsored by Frontiers: A Journal of Women’s Studies which is publishing essays to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Combahee River Collective Statement and its ongoing significance for feminist praxis. Our panel will discuss how the Combahee Statement (which, in the 1970s, named intersectional politics as key to comprehensive organizing) continues to be foundational for our activist and intellectual journeys.

This panel is in conjunction with the focus for this year’s conference: “40 Years After Combahee: Feminist Scholars and Activists Engage the Movement for Black Lives.” This year’s president of NWSA, Barbara Ransby, is one of the leading public intellectuals and activists in the United States.
